Visit Palm Island Resort - Accessible only by ferry or private boat. Take the ferry across. If you have a bicycle, you can cross over the ferry for $6 per person. Once on Palm Island, is easy to spend a couple of hours riding the public roads. Since there is no land bridge, you will find very little traffic. From the Island, you will find several places to swim, fish, or walk the beach. Rum Bay Restaurant - The only restaurant located on Palm Island. Here you will find a great Grouper sandwich, and BBQ Ribs that are as good as they get. Plan on being seated by 6 pm, so you can enjoy the early bird special, which is 2 for 1, or very similar. They also own Johnny Lemrocks where you can inquire about ferry over... it might be free with dinner. Backwater Fishing - Fishing the back water of Pine Island Sound , Gaspirilla sound, Lemon Bay, Stump Pass, and all along the Mangroves or near the Oyster beds. Fishing from the shore directly into the gulf can also be very exciting. There is a great fishing peer behind the Fisheries restaurant just 3 minutes by car... stop at Eldred's for bait. We can recommend several fishing guides but none better than Captain Les Hill. Few fish can resist a live shrimp, but this area also supports catch and release with artificial bait quite well. Relax the Pool - As much as I enjoy the many activities and things to do, many find relaxing by our beautiful pool one of their favorite things to do. Collecting Sand Dollars and Shark Teeth - We have some of the most beautiful beaches anywhere. Take a ferry over to Palm Island, or a private boat over to Don Pedro Island, or drive to Boca Grande Beach or Englewood Beach at Manasota Key and enjoy a long, peaceful walk on one of our beaches. Often you can walk for 30 minutes or more and not see anyone else. You can collect a variety of shells, but often the favorite of children of all ages is the Sand Dollar. I enjoy finding a shark's tooth. Golf - For those who enjoy Golf, you will find in Cape Haze more than a dozen affordable Golf Courses. Our resort has its own putting green and sand trap, so you can get in some practice, then cool off at our pool, then head out to a different golf course every day. Bicycle - There are so many places to enjoy a bike ride. I especially enjoy riding the bike at Boca Grande, or on any of the barrier reef islands. A Day on the Water - There are several marinas within 5 or 10 minutes of Cape Haze Resort. You can rent a small boat for fishing or enjoying a day on the water at Stump Pass Marina. Gasparilla Marina has a nice restaurant. All of the marinas tend to have a lot of activity going on, which makes them a fun place to spend some time. Favorite Things To Do While At Cape Haze Resorts |
