Area Businesses and Resources

Some of our favorite things

Visit Palm Island Resort - Accesable only by ferry or private boat.  Take the ferry across. If you have a bicycle, you can cross over the ferry for $6 per person.  Once on Palm Island, is easy to spend a couple of hours riding the public roads. Since there is no land bridge, you will find very little traffic.  From the Island, you will find several places to swim, fish, or walk the beach.

Rum Bay Restraunt - The only restraunt located on Palm Island.  Here you will find a great Grouper sandwich, and BBQ Ribs that are as good as they get.  Plan on being seated by 6 pm, so you can enjoy the early bird special, which is 2 for 1, or very similar.  They also own Johnny Lemrocks where you can inquire about ferry over... it might be free with dinner.

Backwater Fishing - Fishing the back water of Pine Island Sound , Gaspirilla sound, Lemon Bay, Stump Pass, and all along the Mangroves or near the Oyster beds.  Fishing from the shore directly into the gulf can also be very exciting. There is a great fishing peer behind the Fisheries restraunt just 3 minutes by car... stop at Eldred's for bait.  We can recommend several fishing guides but none better than Captain Les Hill.
